China Demands That US Put a Stop to NSA Spying

China is demanding that the United States put a stop to its snooping activities directed against Chinese officials and local companies, while also asking for a formal explanation regarding the recent reports involving the NSA spying on Huawei.

The country’s foreign ministry spokesman, Hong Lei, expressed China’s extreme concern with the latest allegations concerning the National Security Agency. Recent reports indicate that the NSA infiltrated the servers of Chinese telecom giant Huawei, going as far as obtaining its source code.

By doing this, the NSA targeted the Chinese Trade Ministry, national banks, telecommunications companies and top officials.

“China has already lodged many complaints with the United States about this. We demand that the United States makes a clear explanation and stop such acts,” reads the formal demand. Lei cited media sources regarding the eavesdropping practices of the NSA.

According to recent reports based on Edward Snowden’s leaked files and signed by The New York Times and Der Spiegel, the NSA has infiltrated Huawei’s servers with the purpose of obtaining information about a series of targets.

Ironically, many US lawmakers were afraid that using Huawei products in the US meant that people were susceptible to hacking by the Chinese government. By spying on the company, the United States has done the exact opposite.
